You channel has been so helpful with relocation info. My question is: We are interested in renting a house in Chiang Mai, but if we found something we really loved, to stay in it for many years as we are retired and dont want to move every few years. We prefer a house as we want a yard for a garden. Is it difficult to find houses to rent long term or do landlords prefer 1 year leases? Thanks.

I went in September a couple years back i remember being at phi phi island it was raining so hard at night it looked and sounded truly amazing then the next morning it was clear blue skies you never would of thought it was raining the night before everything looked so clean I was just an awe how it went from torrential rain to clear blue skies blue beaches in the matter of a few hours it was something out of a movie it really felt like i was in paradise it was truly an amazing feeling and such a sight, i wouldn't underestimate the beauty of the rain.

I am happy for people who have had good luck with Lazada, but I can confirm that they shipped us melted chocolates, and there was no positive result or return of our money. Tech support promised over and over with their scripted apologies and promises that they would resolve the issue and they did not. You are dealing with Chinese mentality. Plus, they have 9 to 5 - M-F support hours which is pretty strange for a 24 hours Internet company. Buyer beware, this is Thailand! Not to mention endless spam as reported by my girlfriend.

Just arrived and ordered some Lazada items to the hotel. Worked perfectly for essentials for my cat that I didn't travel with. Looking forward to the 'experience' of Lazada shopping in future. Thanks for the tips.

Raining in Thailand is like a blessing from heaven. Just try to avoid traffic.

I've been chomping at the bit, waiting to get back over to Thailand since the moment I came back to America in 2020. Thus, I've spent endless hours looking at rentals online via various FB groups, etc. Something I discovered through all these past four years of scanning what's out there is that YES, rainy season is the BEST time to sign a year contract. The best month, from my research, is August. For some reason, May/June/July don't have the number of bargains in terms of square meters, location, whatever. Not sure if landlords are holding out for some reason, or if that is just the time when vacancies are highest, but August it is!

I've been riding motorcycles for 50 years, the last 25 in Los Angeles, so I was at least used to splitting lanes. Probably the best advice I got about getting used to riding in Thailand was F.I.T. Follow a Thai. Get behind a Thai on a scooter and do what they do. It works. I'm just glad motorbikes are second nature to me and I didn't have to learn how to ride at the same time. Anyhow, I arrive for good July 2nd to Chiang Mai! New home!
